| Yamaha YZF-R6
It was strange for me to consider anything other than "Big Red". My last bike was a 2002 CBR F4I, I thought this was about as good as it could get, at least with your clothes on. I was set on naked street bike, the 919, but something about it just did not sit right. After looking into the improvements since 2002, I finally decided to jump fence and go with Yamaha, earlier this week I purchased a 2007 YZF R-6. The factory states to keep the rpm’s below 8K during breakin, I still have another 300 miles before I can really start to explore this machine’s potential but I can alreCady tell, this bike is light years ahead of my CBR. Power, handling, ergonomics, comfort, sound, etc. the R-6 wins in each category. Neither bike is built for vertically challenged riders like myself, but I had to decide, should I turn my back on the R-6 because it is difficult to manage stops and starts. For now I have come up with a fix, I will just hang off the starboard side to ensure I get this foot down. I was going to have the bike lowered but as of right now I believe it is best, keep it stock and ride the heck out of it. I do not believe any rider would regret a R-6 purchase. The fun quota is off the scale. It has not revealed any bad traits. And to say it is fast is really an understatement. I can not wait to get past the breakin, but for now I will utilize these next few days to experiment with handling. A much more indepth comment will be forthcoming and I am sure it will be positive. react... |
