Volkswagen goes sailing: in collaboration with the world’s leading sail manufacturer, North Sails, the company unveiled a Touareg study specially designed for the marine life.
The Touareg North Sails study is painted in "Campanella white" and fits the shiny 19-inch alloy wheels "Zaragoza"; all this next to the design "Individual" package perfectly in a marina.
The concept also features: fog lights, outside mirror and reflectors equipped with aquamarine blue colored lenses. On the interior: wood flooring panels outlined with LED lighting strips.

Leading companies from the automotive industry as well as from the telecommunications and software development sector are today presenting their results at the halfway stage in one of Germany’s most important road safety projects - AKTIV. The declared aim of this research initiative launched back in September 2006 and running until August 2010 is to prevent accidents in future by further enhancing active safety, relieving drivers and harmonising traffic flows. Volkswagen AG is one of the partners of the initiative sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.
AKTIV is the abbreviation used for the research initiative “Adaptive und kooperative Technologien für den intelligenten Verkehr” (“Adaptive and cooperative technologies for intelligent transport”). The research initiative itself is subdivided into two main projects: “Assistance Systems / Active Safety” (AS) and “Traffic Management”. Running alongside these main topics, is also the project “Cooperative Cars” (CoCar).
With an investment volume of 37.5 million euros, “Assistance Systems” is the largest project within this research initiative. Almost half of which is sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for Economics. Besides “Integrated Lateral Vehicle Control”, this project also sets out to examine the four topics of “Active Emergency Stopping”, “Traffic Junction Assistance”, “Safety for Pedestrians and Cyclists” and “Road Safety and Attention”. The final analysis is scheduled for 31 August 2010.

Volkswagen revealed today the Golf Twin Drive Concept, a new plug-in electric hybrid powered by a powerful 82-hp electric motor (designed for city driving) and a 2.0 liter turbodiesel producing 122 hp (for longer trips).
The electric engine has an autonomy of 50 kilometers (31 miles). The company will test a fleet of 20 vehicles which are produced in partnership with eight other German companies.
The car is supposed to go into production in 2010.

Now that blue skies are beckoning, Volkswagen has launched its attractive Eos “Edition 2009” offering. This new special model scores points on the merit of its sporty and elegant fittings and a saving of up to 1,340.00 against the standard model with comparable extras.
The attractive fittings package for the Eos “Edition 2009” includes exterior features such as chrome radiator grille slats and “Cherry Red” LED taillights. The interior too is characterised by high-quality and high-comfort features.
The main attractions here are heated leather-fitted sports seats in “Nappa Date Brown”, a three-spoke leather steering wheel with aluminium elements and leather-look door trims. This fittings package also features a “Climatronic” air-conditioning system, cruise control, an “RCD 510” radio system with an integrated 6-stack CD player and a ParkPilot system that alerts drivers to the distance of obstacles at the rear of the vehicle.

Volkswagen announced today the begining of a new partnership with FC Schalke 04 football club. In order to celebrate this partnership , the German manufacturer unveiled a new edition of the Polo called S04 Edition which will be built in just 100 units.
The new edition will feature special blue pain with grey and white elements, FC Schalke 04 logo on the sill plates, head rests and boot lid. The vehicle also comes equipped with 16” alloy wheels, darkened windows and ESP as standard.
Volkswagen, the well-known German manufacturer unveiled today a special edition of its Caddy van called Carrera Cup. The vehicle will be powered by the popular 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine capable of developing 140 hp and to push the car from 0-100 km/h in 10.6 seconds while providing a top speed of 186 km/h.
The Caddy Carrera Cup Edition features also a special painted body kit and 17” alloy wheels painted in black. At the interior the manufacturer added special two-tone leather as well as a new custom steering wheel. The special edition will be manufactured in a limited edition of just 250 units, each one at a price of $34,000.
The fourth model revealed by Volkswagen at the annual GTI meeting at Wörther Lake in Austria was the the Scirocco "Collector’s Edition". The other three models unveiled were: Volkswagen Scirocco GT24, Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance and the Passat R36 Styling Study. Also Audi unveiled the A3 TDI clubsport quattro.
Scirocco "Collector’s Edition" receive new front spoiler, side skirts and a rear diffuser, 20 inches wheels and a bi-color interior.
The car will be available for order by the end of the year.
Volkswagen unveiled at this year’s Worthersee GTI meet in Worther Lake, Austria the Passat R36 Styling Study. It is based on one of the most powerful Volkswagen Estate and is the work of the specialists from Volkswagen Individual.
20 millimeters wider than the production model, the Passat R36 Styling Study is powered by a 300-hp, 3.6-liter V6. The stock exhaust has been upgraded with a new cat-back unit sporting larger tailpipes.
The car also features larger Brembo six-piston units, 20 inches wheels borrowed from the Touareg R-Line. On the inside race-ready Recaros replace the softer buckets found on the standard model, and they match the two-tone, black-and-white steering wheel, shift boot and even seat belts quite nicely.

Volkswagen will unveil the racing version of the Scirocco at the 24-Hour Race at the Nurburgring (23 -25 May).
Hans-Joachim Stuck, Dieter Depping, Francois Verbist and Thomas Mutsch have completed a comprehensive endurance test with the 300 hp Volkswagen Scirocco racing version at the Motorsport Arena at Oschersleben.
The racing version of the new Scirocco is based on last year’s successful technology and, like its predecessor, is powered by a 300-hp 2-liter TFSI engine. It also features direct-shift transmission with DSG technology that comes with shifting paddles on the steering wheel.
"The new Scirocco’s entry in what is arguably the world’s toughest auto race is a demanding as well as an exciting project," states Dr Ulrich Hackenberg. "The objective should be for one of the three Scirocco teams to repeat the 2007 class victory of the Golf GTI. This would be an excellent way to support the market launch of the production model in autumn."
